Experimental Facilities
Explore the experimental facilities that support our research
Reduced scale test track
The circular test track allows reduced-scale capsule prototypes to be tested in a controlled environment.
Track length
120 m
Diameter
40 m
Min. vacuum
10 mbar
Linear motor test platform
The disc-shaped platform is used to test linear motor prototypes at high-speed and to validate mathematical models developed to predict the performance of these motors. Its rail assembly is easily reconfigurable to suit different geometries and materials.
Max. speed
400 km/h
Min. air gap
3 mm
Disc flexibility
High
Vacuum chamber
Built from a section of the test track, the vacuum chamber is composed of 2 curved half tubes, where both parts made of cast aluminium are bolted and sealed together.
Volume
250 L
Min. vacuum
10 mbar
Pumping speed
550 L/min
Battery testing system
The test bench is able to discharge and charge a cell or module controlled through NI compactDaQs using LabVIEW.
Max. supply
3000 W, 80 V
Max. load
2400 W, 80 V
3D printers
Our in-house 3D printing facilities enable rapid prototyping, with parts up to 45 cm in size.
